Man and his ironies

Monday, August 27, 2007 by stained

This is my first, observed, irony of Man/Woman that I am putting down on "paper".
Men/Women are forever using "promise" and "I swear" in their parts of speech either to prove that they are committed to a certain cause or to substantiate what they have just spoken.

For example:
he to she: I promise you that i will see you at 8 o'clock for dinner.
Does this mean that he will only see her at 8 o'clock, because he has promised her?

Let's modify the script.
he to she: I will see you at 8 o'clock for dinner.
Is he lying to her, because he hasn't promised her?

Let's take another example.

he to she: I swear, i was in the loo when you called.
This proves he's speaking the truth, because he swore!
or,
he to she: I was in the loo when you called.
He could still be telling a lie, because he didn't 'swear'.

Do you use "promise" and "swear" in your parts of speech? Why?
Does it make things simpler for you just by using them?

My take on Human Species

Sunday, August 26, 2007 by stained

If the Human Species is eradicated (read removed, it's so much more gentle) from the face of the Earth, will it hamper the food chain? Will other living species be hampered or go extinct? Give it a thought.
They won't. They will continue to live and thrive.
Now that's what this post is all about: My Take on Human Species.

Human's are aliens to the planet Earth and who were from a very advanced world. I call that world GIA42. These GIAns had a forever expanding population and were rigorously hunting for a new world, roughly around a few thousand years ago, where they could flourish incessantly. That's when their search succeeded. They found Earth. They "dropped" many Adam's and Eve's who would be the most advanced beings (parasites) on this blue planet.
The Adam's and Eve's exploited the various resources and thrived. These limited resources are on the verge of finishing, which has put these Earthly GIAns at the same spot that they were a few thousand years ago, aka back to square one. The advancement in modern technology and know how is giving them a new lease of life. They are searching for inhabitable worlds. They've reached the Moon (it still is a conspiracy theory) and their robots have reached Mars. Looking at the giant strides they are making, they will find a new world, but before they leave Earth, this planet will be completely ravaged and exploited, but it will still survive. Earth will survive because Humans don't form the food chain though they will destroy it.

Heyy Babyy

Saturday, August 25, 2007 by stained

Shucks
! A terrible waste of three hours and Rs. 180 (only the movie tickets. Popcorn and coke were exclusively charged !) to watch this forgettable (won't be easy) film. The title track is a 'hotter' and the first 30 minutes of the movie gives you a good feel as many of the scenes are rib-tickling and outright funny, but as the movie progresses boredom seeps in (especially the constant slapping, they simple love to slap one another!) and you want to get out, but Rs. 180 and the popcorn and coke couldn't let me leave so easily.
The movie is a sheer waste of everything. It's only making it easier for me to boycott Hindi movies. That'll surely be a bumper hit! That'll save me so much of wasteful time (pre watching+while watching+post watching).
The movie is not a family entertainer and also the baby's (pivotal) in the movie only until the 1st half, then it's the normal boy chase girl kind.
The movie has nothing new to offer you and if you are planning to go watch it with your girl/boy friend, or on your first date or with your family members, or..etc etc.. the movie is a big no-no. Don't waste your time..

Chak De India - the movie

Wednesday, August 22, 2007 by stained

Chak De India has changed my views about Sharukh Khan. Though he has been in this industry for more than a decade and also given the biggest hits, the performances he has given so far have only been very stereotyped and monotonous which never attracted me to the cinemas, but a movie on Hockey and only one known face in the movie, that of the King Khan, and also all the rave reviews the movie has been creating got to my curiosity.

I finally watched it and found Mr. Khan's rhythm and style very personified. The script needed a little more aggression and audacity, it's not that I am complaining because the movie does make an impact on the mind but a little more work on the script wouldn't have done any harm. A few liners that made my chest swell, and is worth a round of applause are:

  • Hockey main cricket ki tarah chakke nahi hote !
  • Pehli baar main kisi gore ko tiranga lehrate hue dekh raha hoon.

The second half of the movie is fast and the last few scenes kept me glued to my rickety seat. I hope this movie does a lot for Indian women and also helps in reviving the lost glory of Indian Hockey.

What have you done for India ?

Tuesday, August 21, 2007 by stained

I, me :

  • I have added three more persons to the already exploding population of India (approximately 1.3 Billion)
  • I have filed 5 cases in the judicial court which are still waiting for a verdict; i know it will see the light of the day once the 300 lac pending cases are dealt with.
  • I never switch off the fan or the tube light or the bulb before i leave my place because i know that i have the money to pay for it.
  • I love chewing tobacco and Beetle leaf (paan) and to top it all, i relish spitting at any clean corner.
  • Littering is my favorite past time.
  • Beyond the four walls of our house, i loathe skimpy clothes and the likes and i speak openly about my views but inside these walls i can't stop myself from watching what's beneath the skimpy clothes. (why the hypocrisy?)
  • River Ganga also known as the Holy Ganges; surprisingly it's holy only on paper, otherwise it's a river filled with effluents and garbage.
  • The politicians need to grow up! They are still stuck with the ideologies of the 20 th century (the first half of the 20th century, precisely)
  • Satyagraha  was then but now it's only foreign brands. Jeans, Mobile phones, Home appliances, et al. What's happened to Brand India ?

Indian Independence Day

Friday, August 17, 2007 by stained

It's 60 years since India got it's Independence and things have obviously changed. Changed for the better as can be seen with the kind of growth that India has been seeing for the past 4-5 years. But, a question that has caught my curiosity is, "Has the essence of INDEPENDENCE DAY lost steam in India? " [ Take my Poll ]

Independence day videos (a treat for Indians) :

Job

by stained

If India is the land of Opportunities then Mumbai is the city of opportunities. That's what I thought before I headed for this great metropolitan from Pune. It has been more than a month since I moved here and ever since I have been scouting for a job, but 5 interviews down I have come across nothing worthwhile and concrete. It surely is getting frustrating and melancholic. I have this passion to work, to give it my best with all my enthusiasm and interest but no work is interesting. One company wants me to do Door-to-door selling (raising funds for CRY); and another company, Hutch, calls me for an interview, makes me wait for 3 hours and eventually tells me that they are looking for a person with 2-3 years of experience. Well, then what were you doing with my resume? Couldn't you read that I am a fresher, who has just graduated in July this year? Another has offered me a job but the regional head is out of station and for the past one week he's been saying that he'll get back to me. I am still waiting.
While giving an interview today, I realized that the only thing that I have apart from my qualification is self-belief. And if I lose this, I'll lose everything.

Finally

Tuesday, August 7, 2007 by stained

Before i begin, i would like to thank blogger for the hosting and yahoo for the template. Pardon me for 'stealing' this template but it was too good to resist.
This blog is the 'straight-on-the-face' kind. I'll write without any hesitation and with my identity concealed; in total secrecy. I agree i am being a coward, but this cowardice act is only helping me to get rid of my various weaknesses but in due course of time i will reveal myself, my identity.
I won't be surprised if you are already contemplating to quit and run to another website/blog, as my motive would have been served and my first battle won. Thank you for making it simpler and easy for me!

Give spock a look. This Silicon based company has pledged to register the profile of every individual on the face of this earth and eventually enable netizens to search for them.- wish you luck spock
